University of Lincoln Launches Green Skills Bootcamp for Small Firms

The University of Lincoln has launched a fully-funded Green Skills Bootcamp designed to help small and medium-sized Lincolnshire businesses reduce energy costs and prepare for net-zero requirements.

The six-week part-time course, delivered in partnership with the Greater Lincolnshire Local Skills Improvement Plan, covers practical energy auditing, low-carbon retrofit, and how to access grant funding for efficiency measures.

"Most small firms know they need to act on energy, but they don't have a sustainability team to tell them where to start," said course lead Dr Marcus Whitfield. "This bootcamp gives owners and managers the practical tools to find the quick wins themselves."

Places are funded through the Department for Education's Skills Bootcamp programme, meaning there is no cost to eligible businesses. The first cohort of 24 begins in July, with a second planned for the autumn.

Local firms that complete the course will be offered a follow-up energy assessment from final-year engineering students, giving participants a tailored action plan and giving students real-world project experience.
